New John Wick 3 Image Shows Keanu Reeves Riding A Horse Through New York City

Say what you will about John Wick, his life certainly isn't lacking for excitement. Not that the Keanu Reeves-portrayed character wanted it that way. In the first two John Wick movies, the eponymous protagonist was dragged out of retirement and left a trail of bodies in his wake, and John Wick: Chapter 2 ended with him being forced to go on the run. John will still be avoiding assassins around every corner when we reunite with him next year in John Wick 3: Parabellum, and during all of the craziness, John will have to ride a horse down the streets of New York City. Seriously, see for yourself!

Normally if you're eager to make a quick getaway, you pick a motorized vehicle as your mode of transportation. Not John Wick. Somehow events in his third theatrical adventure will lead to him hopping on a horse and weaving through New York traffic to avoid the foes pursuing him on motorcycles. Judging by that gash on his head, John's been freshly injured, so he'll need to hightail it out of there before anything worse happens. And the insanity doesn't end there. Director Chad Stahelski also told Empire that the "maelstrom" around John Wick 3: Parabellum's central character will include "horses, dogs, cats, a raven, a bunch of pigeons, a motorcycle chase, car chase, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, shotguns and ninjas." Some of those are to expected, like Fishburne, McShane and Reddick all reprising their respective roles, but ninjas?! Even by John Wick standards, that's nuts, and now I'm wondering if these are your standard black-garbed ninjas with throwing stars, or if these ninjas will be wielding the shotguns.

As punishment for killing Santino D'Antonio on Continental grounds, John Wick was declared excommunicado by the High Table, meaning he lost access to all of his underworld privileges and resources. Making matters worse, the price that was already on John's head was doubled to $14 million and offered globally, so with only a Marker in his pocket, a one hour head start and a dog by his side, John had to make himself scarce quickly in John Wick: Chapter 2's final minutes. That's where we'll pick up with him in John Wick 3: Parabellum, as he'll be fighting and killing his way out of New York. Along with featuring an assortment of familiar faces, the threequel will introduce characters like Halle Berry's Sofia, Angelica Huston's The Director, Asia Kate Dillon's The Adjudicator, Mark Dacascos' Zero and Jason Mantzoukas' Tick Tock Man.

Universals Dark Universe Might Not Be Done After All

Before Marvel Comics brought their characters to the screen or Star Wars made spinoffs, the first "cinematic universe" was made up of Universal monster movies. Recently, Universal had the idea to bring these classic characters back with something it called the Dark Universe. However, the plan has hit numerous setbacks over the last year since The Mummy was released in theaters, making us question whether or not it would ever actually become a universe at all. The last thing that we heard was that the Dark Universe was potentially being "reconfigured" but it seems that perhaps the franchise sees some light at the end of the tunnel. Artist Robert Vargas recently posted to Instagram that he met with the Dark Universe team at Universal and it appears he'll be contributing in some fashion, which means things there are apparently moving forward. The Dark Universe got off on a bad foot with only $80 million in domestic box office receipts last summer for Tom Cruise's The _Mummy. However, the international box office came to the rescue and the movie finished with over $400 million in total. Still, it was less than clear where the Dark Universe was going after that, especially after it lost Alex Kurtzman who was handling the direction of the entire franchise. More recently, Ed Solomon, who was set to write The Invisible Man for Johnny Depp departed that project. The Bride of Frankenstein_ was originally set for release in February of next year, but it has since been pulled from Universal's schedule entirely.

Robert Vargas doesn't state exactly what role he would be taking within the Dark Universe. As an artist, the obvious answer is that Universal is interested in having him design the look of the Dark Universe in some way, perhaps he'll be working on character design for The Creature From The Black Lagoon or the Bride of Frankenstein. Traditionally, Vargas is a mural artist, so perhaps he'll be creating some murals as part of the promotion of future Dark Universe movies.

So, while it's unclear exactly what is next for the Dark Universe, what does seem clear is that something is next. Whatever Universal has been doing behind the scenes, the studio is now ready to publicly acknowledge about the Dark Universe again, otherwise, we wouldn't have seen a public Instagram post like this.

It will be interesting to see where things go from here. Will the Dark Universe pick up where it left off or have things changed significantly? We'll have to wait and see.

With the recent success of musicals such as The Greatest Showman and Mary Poppins Returns oops, lets do it again! Sony Pictures is getting on the movie musical bandwagon with a fairytale set to the tune of Britney Spears biggest hits called Once Upon A One More Time, which will soon debut on a Chicago stage this fall before making its way to Broadway in 2020.

Sony has won an auction for the rights to adapt the musical for the big screen, and according to Deadline, it will be produced by Britney Spears, her manager Larry Rudolph and John Davis, who has done projects including The Predator and the upcoming Jungle Cruise. The musical follows iconic princesses such as Cinderella and Snow White, who often gather for their book club to read Grimms Fairy Tales. Then, a rogue fairy godmother introduces them to The Feminine Mystique and break out into Britney songs such as Toxic and Circus amidst their introduction to second-wave feminism.

Once Upon A One More Time is based on a book by Jon Hartmere, it will be directed by Kristen Hanggi, who is best known for developing and directing the musical Rock of Ages, and choreography is being handled by Keone and Mari Madrid, leads of Justin Biebers Love Yourself music video. Britney Spears recently celebrated 20 years since her debut album, ...Baby One More Time, which is still her highest-selling album to date.

The pop star is famous for her early 00s music videos complete with iconic dances and costumes from Britney Spears. The princess of pop has created radio hit after radio hit and has a huge fan base, so Once Upon A One More Time is sure to peak the interest of them everywhere. It also seems to be trend for musicals including famous singers to be getting big screen debuts recently.

Bohemian Rhapsody recently not only rocked the box office with over $900 million in earnings worldwide, it also won some Oscars as well. The upcoming Rocketman will reenact and take some creative liberties with Elton Johns life and legacy.

The highly-successful Mamma Mia movies seem to be the closest to Once Upon A One More Time, as they both explore the libraries of one famous artist to tell a completely different story in a musical. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was quietly successful last summer with $394 million in worldwide earnings. Princesses are also quite popular, especially for Disney audiences will either be excited to see them spoofed through Britneys music or scoff at yet another recycled use of their well-known stories.

Once Upon A One More Time is an exciting, new kind of musical that looks to celebrate Britney Spears music in a unique and fun way, along with having an empowering message about The Feminine Mystique and retelling the classic stories of princesses from what we are used to seeing from them. Sign me up for Snow White belting out Toxic - thatll be worth the price of admission on its own!
